Foaled in Europe in Feb 1995 no one thought Karasi would still b making headlines 12 years later.  In 1998 he won over 2400m leading for the final 800m then won his next two starts over 2500m and 2600m.  After two more starts he was sold to Australia as a Melbourne Cup hopeful.  In 1999 Karasi won at Bendigo then won over 3000m at Moonee Valley.  In 2000 he was second in the Adelaide Cup and 3rd in the Brisbane Cup before a break and then to Perth for their Cup.  He was involved in a nasty fall that brought down many runners in the lead up race the Cox Stakes and was then spelled.  Karasi returned to run third again in the Brisbane Cup and in the Spring won the Geelong Cup and was 4th in the Melbourne Cup.  In 2002 after a brief campaign he was unplaced in the Sydney Cup before an injury enforced break.  He returned for the 2003 Adelaide Cup where he was unplaced and was sold to commence his career over jumps.  Karasi soon won hurdles at Morphettville and Victoria Park in Adelaide.  He returned and won again at Morphettville in 2004 before winning a hurdle at Oakbank and continued winning over the winter at Sandown and Morphettville before running third in the Hiskens Steeplechase.  In 2005 Karasi won a flat 3000m race at Moonee Valley before heading to Japan for the Nakayama Grand Jump which he won in April 2005.  Karasi returned to Japan 12 months later to win the Nakayama Grand Jump again.  In 2007 as a 12yo he had several flat races before heading to Japan where he was third in the Pegasus Jump Stakes before tackling the Grand Jump for a third time.  To the thrill of the crowd and upstaging the big carnival day back home as many watched on TV in Australia Karasi dashed to the front in the straight.  A stumble on landing over the last fence but over the final stages Karasi kept going to take the race out for a third time.  In winning he took his stakesearnings to over 3.7 million a record for a jumper in Australasia.
